My name is Edilia Gonzales, and I live in San Diego, La Libertad, El Salvador. I am a hardworking single mother of three children and earn a living selling tortillas and pupusas on weekends. Receiving a cancer diagnosis felt like a nightmare, but I placed my trust in God and found the strength to continue. I underwent seven chemotherapy treatments and thirty radiation sessions. Thanks to the support o Basic Health International, I never gave up. Today, as a cancer survivor, I encourage all women to get screened and seek help. I am deeply grateful to BHI for providing exams, transportation, encouragement, and the support that helped me overcome this disease.
