Basic Health International (BHI) was awarded the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP) 2020 Scientific Meeting Best e-poster for its abstract “Building Capacity Through Healthcare Provider Training: the National Cervical Cancer Prevention Program in El Salvador (CAPE).” This award is presented to the best poster dedicated to the prevention and treatment of anogenital and HPV-related diseases.
Our abstract described BHI’s work on the successful training of public healthcare workers to implement a population-based cervical cancer screening program in a low- and middle-income country (LMIC). Some of these workers are now capable of providing trainings to other members of the local workforce. The CAPE training model is considered a sustainable strategy that can be used by other countries as they design and/or strengthen their own cervical cancer screening and prevention programs.
We are excited and honored to be recognized by ASCCP for our work in cervical cancer prevention.
